1. Rs. 57, 078. 22 lakh thousand disbursed under Atal Pention Yojana till February 2021.


The Government has made a co-contribution amount of Rs. 57,078.22 lakh (US$ 78.73 million) disbursed till February 2021 under Atal Pension Yojana, this was stated by Mr. Anurag Singh Thakur, Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs.
Atal Pention Yojana is a Government of India Scheme launched on 9th May 2015.
It is open to all citizens of India between 18-40 years of age, having a savings bank account in a bank or post office.

2. India slips to 56th Rank in Global Home Price Index.


India slipped 13 spots lower, touching the 56th rank, in the global home price index in the fourth and last quarter of the financial year, against its 43rd rank in the same quarter previous fiscal.
According to Knight Frank's report, during the 12-month change for the fourth quarter of 2019 - fourth quarter of 2020, Turkey continues to lead the global ranking. This was followed by New Zealand at 18.6 per cent year-on-year and Slovakia at 16.0 per cent year-on-year.

3. Maharashtra farmers start fresh fruit cake ‘movement’ to sustain during pandemic.


Fruit growers in rural Maharashtra have started an innovative ‘movement’ to promote fresh fruit cakes as a healthier option, instead of the traditional bakery-made cakes, to celebrate birthdays and other special occasions.

4. PM Modi launches “Catch the rain” campaign on the occasion of World Water Day


Launching Jal Shakti Abhiyan : Catch the Rain campaign virtually on the occasion of World Water Day, Mr Modi said water security and water management is crucial for the future of coming generations. He noted that the challenge of the water crisis is increasing equally with India’s development.

5. LT Foods becomes first company to be certified by UN-backed Sustainable Rice Platform.


LT Foods has become the first company globally to be certified with the highest level of verification – L3, by UN-backed Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) ecolabel. This will enable the Company to use Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) verified logo on the packs of Rice produced by verified 1,000+ farmers growing sustainable rice.

6. Madhya Pradesh launches Sankalp Campaign.


Madhya Pradesh is launching a state wide Sankalp or resolution campaign from today for a week to create awareness on covid appropriate behaviour.
State continues to register high covid positivity rate. AIR Bhopal Correspondent reports that sirens will be played at 11 am and 7 pm in the state.
The public will stop at their place and take a 2-minute resolution for the use of masks and maintaining social distancing.

7. Bihar becomes 1st state to have own ethanol policy for biofuel.


The state Industries minister, Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, launched the much-touted Ethanol Production Promotion Policy, 2021.
Bihar becomes the 1st state to have an ethanol promotion policy under the National Policy of Biofuels, 2018.

8. ISSF World Cup: India's Divyansh Singh Panwar, Elavenil Valarivan win gold medal.

India's Divyansh Singh Panwar and Elavenil Valarivan won the gold medal on Monday in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team event at the The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup being held in Delhi.
The Indian duo put on a brilliant display of shooting to beat the Hungarian team of Istvan Peni and Eszter Denes 16-10 to take home the top prize.

9. Government to borrow Rs. 20,000 crore less this fiscal.


The government has decided to cancel its Rs 20,000 crore borrowing scheduled for March 26 on review of position of cash balance, as per RBI.
The government would be borrowing Rs 20,000 crore less than its target of Rs 12.8 lakh crore announced in the Budget on February 1 for the current fiscal.

10. Afghan Foreign Minister Arrives in India on 3-day Visit:


Afghan Foreign Minister Mohammad Haneef Atmar arrived on a three-day visit against the backdrop of renewed efforts to speed up the peace process in Afghanistan.
Atmar is scheduled to hold extensive talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar with a focus on the Afghan peace process and ways to further bolster bilateral cooperation in a range of areas.

11. Over 23 lakh loans sanctioned to beneficiaries under PM SVANidhi scheme.


Government has said that more than 23 lakh loans have been sanctioned to the beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Street Vendors, Atma Nirbhar Nidhi Scheme - PM SVANidhi.
Minister of State for Finance Anurag Singh Thakur said this in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha yesterday. He said, over 18 lakh loans have been disbursed to the beneficiaries.
The PM SVANidhi scheme was launched on 1st June last year, with the objective to facilitate collateral free working capital loan up to ten thousand rupees, to about 50 lakh street vendors across the country whose businesses had been adversely affected due to lockdown.

12. National highways construction pace touches record 34 km/day.


This is almost three times the rate of highways construction at about 12 km per day in 2014-15.
"The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) has achieved another milestone by constructing 12,205.25 km of National Highways in the current financial year 2020-21 (till 22nd March, 2021), i.e., with construction of 34 kilometres per day," the ministry said in a statement. This is also 1,205 kms more than the target of 11,000 kms fixed for the current fiscal, it added.

13. Defence Ministry seals deal with BDL to acquire 4,690 anti-tank guided missiles.


The missiles, having a range of 1,850 metres, can be fired from ground as well as vehicle-based launchers and their induction is planned to be completed in three years, the ministry said.
The Defence Ministry sealed a deal with state-run Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL) to acquire 4,960 anti-tank guided missiles at a cost of ₹1,188 crore for the Indian Army.

14. Former Sebi chief Ramakrishna dies in Chennai at age 91 after illness.


Ramakrishna, as an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, had five decades of government service, working as a diplomat and policy expert. He was asked to lead the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) in 1990 when it lacked the legal status as market regulator, using his four-year term to protect the interests of small investors.
He became the first chairperson of Disinvestment Commission in 1996 to manage the government’s exit from state-owned businesses.

15. India supplies two Mobile Harbour Cranes each weighing 100 tons to Iran.


India supplied two Mobile Harbour Cranes (MHCs) each weighing 100 tons to Iran. Indian Embassy in Iran said it is part of India's continued commitment towards development of phase-I of Shahid Beheshti port in Chabahar.
This is the second such consignment of equipment shipped to the strategic port at Chah Bahar. India had earlier supplied two 140-ton MHCs in January this year. Shipping Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said, the step is continuing with India's commitment to develop Chabahar Port.

16. World Poetry Day is observed on 21st March.


A decision to proclaim 21 March as World Poetry Day was adopted during UNESCO’s 30th session held in Paris in 1999.
One of the main objectives of the Day is to support linguistic diversity through poetic expression and to offer endangered languages the opportunity to be heard within their communities.

17. World Meteorological Day is observed on 23rd March.


World Meteorological Day takes place every year on 23 March and commemorates the coming into force on 23 March 1950 of the Convention establishing the World Meteorological Organization.
It showcases the essential contribution of National Meteorological and Hydrological Services to the safety and wellbeing of society and is celebrated with activities around the world. The themes chosen for World Meteorological Day reflect topical weather, climate or water-related issues.

18. Arindam Bagchi Takes Charge As Ministry Of External Affairs Spokesperson.


Bagchi was serving as the joint secretary (north) at the MEA headquarters. He was an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer from the 1995 batch.
He has served as India's ambassador to Croatia from November 2018 to June 2020. He was also India's deputy high commissioner to Sri Lanka.
He will succeed Anurag Srivastava.

19.RBI sets up external advisory committee for evaluating banking applications.


The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) set up a standing external advisory committee, which will evaluate applications for universal banks and small finance banks (SFBs). The committee has five members, with former RBI deputy governor Shyamala Gopinath as the chairperson.
The panel will have a tenure of three years. “The secretarial support to the committee would be provided by RBI’s Department of Regulation.

20. The Gandhi Peace Prize for the year 2019 is being conferred on (Late) His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said of Oman.


Gandhi Peace Prize is an annual award instituted by Government of India since 1995, the 125th Birth Anniversary commemoration year of Mahatma Gandhi.
The award is open to all persons regardless of nationality, race, language, caste, creed or sex.

21. India Legends wins Road Safety World Series title.


Yuvraj Singh and Yusuf Pathan struck quickfire fifties as India Legends beat Sri Lanka Legends by 14 runs to win the inaugural Road Safety World Series T20 2020-21 in Raipur.

22. Nozomi Okuhara bags women's singles titles at All England Open.


World number four Okuhara beat Thailand's Pornpawee Chochuwong 21-12 21-16 in the women's final and the 26-year-old said she was a better player now compared to when she last won the event in 2016.

23. Acclaimed Egyptian feminist Nawal Saadawi dies at age 89.


Nawal Saadawi, a renowned Egyptian feminist, psychiatrist and novelist, whose writings have stirred controversy for decades in an overwhelming conservative society, died of age-related health problems in Cairo on Sunday, officials said. She was 89.
